UPDATE: It's confirmed. Marshall will still be docked two game checks, it sounds like. Gary Miller over at CBS4 Denver reports that Brandon Marshall 's NFL suspension has been reduced to one game. The move comes after Marshall met with NFL officials in New York on Tuesday. Sources say Marshall will now only be suspended one game and one paycheck after he was initially suspended three games. Marshall was summoned to Goodell's New York offices on July 18 to explain a series of off-the-field misdeeds over the past year, most notably his March 6 arrest on a domestic violence warrant filed by his former girlfriend in Atlanta.

The more I think about it, the more stunned I am at this selection for one reason: foreign policy. McCain has made experience in a dangerous world the centerpiece to his campaign. Yet he selected someone with an eye more toward the electoral map than governing. Social conservatives may love her and Hillary supporters like it, but managing a town smaller than Obama's state senate district is incredibly weak. Maybe this choice shouldn't be too shocking, especially after seeing the way the Bush administration has placed politics over policy the last eight years.

Not quite sure what to make of Sarah Palin yet. She's pretty inexperienced and doesn't bring much to the table except the fact that she's a woman with a big family and hard right-wing social ideas. I do worry that her being an attractive white woman and modest "Haaah-key Mom" (hockey mom) was why the McCain Campaign chose her and not because of her views or ability (or lackthereof). I think the warning that Biden will destroy her in debates but should be careful that he doesn't win too badly is a good one.

According to 790 The Ticket in Miami, Chad Johnson filed the necessary paperwork to legally change his last name from Johnson to Ocho Cinco. That link is to ProFootballTalk.com, which has been known to post some sketchy rumors. However, it's also been mentioned at ESPN and The Sporting News . Personally, I get a kick out of Chad Johnson's (or Ocho Cinco I suppose) antics, primarily because they're not something the 49ers have to handle.
