That's what my friend Bob Cunningham calls Barack Obama, noting this bit of wacky logic in today's New York Times :
He addressed Republican contentions that he was willing to meet unconditionally with Mr. Ahmadinejad. Mr. McCain has said several times recently that he could not conceive of sitting down and talking with a foreign leader who has called for Israel's extinction, and he has described Mr. Obama as all too willing to do so.
The criticism is clearly meant to stoke unease that some Jews have expressed over Mr.

Obama Says Bush and McCain Are 'Fear Mongering' in Attacks - New York Times
New game: Count the number of times the NYT manages to put Bush and McCain's names together in the same headline every week.
I'll bet a graph of the results would turn near-vertical by September.

Three more must reads this morning:
Amid news reports that violence is rising in Afghanistan, the New York Times offers a major new look at how Bush Administration policies have contributed to the regrouping of Al Qaeda in the region.
The New York Times editorial page reviews Israel's recent spate of diplomatic engagement in the Middle East, reminding us how these new bold initiatives are a direct repudiation of the now clearly failed Bush strategy for remaking the region.
And the Washington Post offers an insightful piece on the growing conventional wisdom on how the GOP plans to go after U.

I listened to Hassa 'Osamma' Obama yesterday as he took offense at the prez saying that negotiating with terrorists is appeasement. Bush ain't done a whole lot right while he has been in office except cutting taxes and refusing to appease the ragheads and I'm not too sure cutting taxes while refusing to veto the pork bills was all that good.

This is old news, but I somehow missed that Bush was speaking in front of a foreign audience when he made this criticism of Obama. This seems uncouth (yes, I know, why am I surprised>). Clinton was raked over the coals for protesting the Vietnam War when on foreign soil, and those attacks resonated the way a Vietnam protest here in the states would not.
Bush going to Israel to attack Obama on the meeting with terrorists thing is a bad sign. This is way more than the standard fear-mongering and I hope we all realize it.

Here is what Obama said, according to the New York Times . Do it, Obama. Tell it like it is.
âGeorge Bush and John McCain have a lot to answer for,â Mr. Obama said at a midday forum here, listing the Iraq war, the strengthening of Iran and groups like Hamas and Hezbollah, Osama bin Ladenâs being still at large and stalled diplomacy in other parts of the Middle East among their chief failings.

"It's time to present Iran with a clear choice," Mr. Obama said. " If it abandons its nuclear program , support for terror and threats to Israel, then Iran can rejoin the community of nations. If not, Iran will face deeper isolation and steeper sanctions."
