But while I languish, I thought some of you might be interested in two legal cases. The first is not explicitly about the blogosphere, but rather a mother who has been charged with a myspace hoax that resulted in the suicide by a 13 year old girl. Not surprising the cyberworld is all a flutter about this case. Metafilter has a thread on it, the New Yorker also has a detailed article about the case, and the smoking gun has the actual indictment.

As much as I disdain this [insert rude epithet], I don't think that the courts are the way to go . You may feel otherwise: perhaps to make an example is worthwhile in such a notorious case?
Sister Toldjah's writing about it, too. (h/t memeorandum )
Investigations: while Specter wants Congress to look into "Spygate," Patterico drops a bombshell on the LA Times , and David Vitter was acquitted for having instrumentalized the (presumably) suicided DC Madame's employees prior to joining the Senate, in case you missed that.

Megan Meier was a beautiful 13 year old who hanged herself after becoming the victim of a cruel online prank. Her death became known as the "MySpace Suicide" and garnered international attention.
Today the woman -- who posed as a teenage boy on MySpace, pretending to be interested in Megan Meier -- was indicted on federal charges. At one point, prosecutors say this "boy" told Megan Meier the world would be a better place without her. Now Lori Drew, the mother who created the fake MySpace account is facing charges of conspiracy and accessing protected computers without authorization to obtain information to inflict emotional distress.
