John McCain is now outlining a global, market-based approach to fight global warming .
On Monday, McCain said he would achieve his emissions targets through a "cap and trade system" similar to the one he introduced with Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) in 2003. He said the approach, by allowing companies to buy or trade emissions credits, would allow the market to "reward any person or company that seeks to invent, improve or acquire alternatives to carbon-based energy."
Without providing specifics, McCain said he would "add to current federal efforts" to develop technologies such as plug-in, hybrid, flex-fuel and hydrogen-powered vehicles.

So, one of the many thorns in John McCain's side, the Reverend Hagee, has apologized to Catholics for calling the Catholic Church 'the great whore' and 'the apostate church.' Guess he is still hoping for an invite to the White House if McCain gets elected. This happens on the same day that a letter from Albert Einstein goes up for auction . The letter basically describes religion belief in God as 'childish superstition' and says Jews aren't the chosen people. I'm sure both will lead to some tortured posturing from folks on all sides of these kind of issue, all of which will lead to nothing in the end.

Commenters on liberal-Christian, Episcopalian blogs I read have been complaining for weeks about John Hagee's apparent invisibility on the media radar, while Rev. The Reverend John Hagee, pastor of the evangelical Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, has said some over-the-top rude things about the Catholic Church. Some on the left, the most prominent of whom is probably FNC's Alan Colmes, though I think Mary Matalin's cueball husband did some of that as well, have attacked Hagee as McCain's equivalent of Jeremiah Wright. That's clearly not the case, of course, though one has to wonder what McCain would do with Hagee's endorsement when the man had insulted Catholics as he had.

Hagee has often made references to "the apostate church" and the "great whore," terms that Catholics say are slurs aimed at the Roman Catholic Church.
The Catholic League was all over that, and its combative president, William Donahue , got an apology out of Hagee.
