Unsurprisingly, although the elephant from Redmond is out of the room , Google would still like to nab that advertising deal with Yahoo. According to BBC, comments that Google co-founder Sergey Brin and chief exec Eric Schmidt made before Google's annual general meeting on Thursday make this quite clear.
" We have been talking to Yahoo and we are very excited to be working with them. We share a lot of values with them, " said Brin. Schmidt pointed out that the two week trial with Yahoo had been a success, saying that it's a " good basis to talk to Yahoo some more "

As noted last night, reports of the capture of al Qaeda in Iraq leader Abu Ayyub al Masri must be tempered with healthy a dose of caution until the U.S. military can confirmed the news. This morning, the U.S. spokeswoman in northern Iraq said al Masri was not in the U.S. militaryâs custody , nor has he been detained by Iraqi troops.
It certainly was tempting to believe al Masri was captured. The location of his reported capture fit the storyline from Iraq over the past several months. Fourteen of the 30 senior-most al Qaeda leaders that have been killed or captured over the past three months were killed or captured in Mosul.

Oops they did it again. CNN is now reporting that the guy the ISF captured is not al-Masri . This follows a pattern. Since al-Masri took over AQI in 2006, "Iraqi officials have reported his death three times, his capture twice and a mortal wounding once." As Kilo says in the comments, "He's the fkn roadrunner apparently."

Yahoo shares are hovering around $25 because investors hope major Yahoo shareholders can still force a deal with Microsoft at $33 per share or more. But at Google's annual shareholder meeting yesterday , cofounder Sergey Brin and CEO Eric Schmidt tried their best to destroy those hopes, amping up talk of a deal that would outsource Yahoo's search advertising to Google and make Yahoo unattractive to Microsoft. Brin said the deal is designed to keep Microsoft at bay. "[Yahoo was] under a hostile attack and we wanted to make sure they had as many options as possible," Brin said.
