GWEN IFILL : Let me ask Senator Bond a little bit about this issue of waterboarding. And let me describe for our viewers first to remind them what it is. It's when there's a piece of cloth that's placed over the mouth of a person who's been strapped down, and water is poured on their face so they feel like they're inhaling water, and it gives a sensation of drowning. Do you think that's torture?

That's enough to get the left, which has collectively decided that waterboarding is the worst possible thing you could ever do to a human being, all worked into a tizzy but the reality is that Bond isn't far off the mark.
I think it's a bit factitious to say that waterboarding is exactly like swimming, but really it's not all that different from going to the local pool and getting your head held under the water by a sibling. It is, almost literally, water dunking. That's it. Bullies have been doing it to kids at public schools for decades.

You Can't Torquemada Anything
Sorry for the Mel Brooks pun but I felt that some levity was in order given the tortuousness of extracting even a modicum of information from the Bushies. The President still feigns ignorance of what some have taken to calling "Tapegate". This is despite the person he once deemed worthy of a spot on the Supreme Court being intimately involved in discussions with the CIA over the fate of the tapes. It would appear the Bush Bubble is now so opaque that it no longer permits light to penetrate, let alone reality.

Today's quote of the day comes from Sen Kit Bond (R-MO) as he related the controversial interrogation technique of "waterboarding" to swimming on PBS's "Newshour." Sen. Bond failed to wow the swimming community with his knowledge of the sport when asked if waterboarding constituted torture. Sen. Bond responded by saying "There are different ways of doing it. It's like swimming freestyle, backstroke…" It appears that Sen. Bond may need a quick swim lesson to refresh his memory of swimming. You can check out a video of the interview here .

It is funny just how wrong someone can be in so few words, but it seems as though Republican Senator from Missouri Kit Bond is dead set on breaking records. Per Think Progress, Kit said yesterday on PBS' Newshour, " There are different ways of doing it. It's like swimming, freestyle, backstroke. The waterboarding could be used almost to define some of the techniques that our trainees are put through, but that's beside the point. It's not being used."
Oh boy, where to start?

Sen. Kit Bond (R-MO), ranking Republican on the Senate intelligence committee: "There are different ways of doing it. It's like swimming , freestyle, backstroke."
Former Attorney General John Ashcroft also responded to questions from the audience. The first question came from a woman who asked if Ashcroft would be willing to be subjected to waterboarding: "The things that I can survive, if it were necessary to do them to me, I would do," he said.
Instapundit Glenn Reynolds: "I was entirely serious when I suggested that Mukasey volunteer to be waterboarded along with any interested members of Congress.

… but I haven't seen a funnier one than this , in which Senator (Senator!) Kit Bond declares waterboarding to be akin to swimming the backstroke. And besides, we're not doing it. LOL.
Yeah, I know one thing for sure: I would just as soon be waterboarded for information I may or may not know than swim the backstroke. What a fucking moron. Yo, Missouri! This is the best you can do?
So, the answer is obvious: Kit Bond needs to be waterboarded, and like for real, until for example he confesses that waterboarding equals the backstroke was flagrant ignorance and almost worthy of unelectability.

So some random website is reporting that Korean scientists have cloned cats but with a sciency twist . The twist? Obviously they made the cats glow in the dark. Now there's every possibility that this is a hoax - most likely on the part of the internet, but it's true that the Korean's now have a track record of clone hoaxes . On the other hand I can now make my first lolcat. A momentous day is today.
Having one of those cats around might be scary, you know, when they decide it's time to jump on your head in the middle of the night.

Now, waterboarding might be torture, but as long as people I hate also hate waterboarding, then I love it more than life itself. … So I cherish waterboarding. I want to make it our national sport, our national bird. I want to make the waterboard the state flower of Vermont, instead of the Birkenstock. For too many conservatives, waterboarding is a big joke to be taken lightly. Rachel Marsden - Gutfeld's former co-host - claimed waterboarding was simply a "CIA-sponsored swim lesson ." Sen.

The Bush Administration has maintained that waterboarding is not torture ; Senator Kit Bond (R-MO) has stated that it is most definitely not torture , and actually like swimming ( http://thinkprogress.org/2007/12/12/bond-waterboarding-swimming/ ).
I'm sold.
So my question is this - if Waterboarding is not torture , why aren't we fully embracing it?
Today I'm starting an organization called "Americans For Waterboarding" - if 1,000 people join, we'll seek non-profit 501(c)3 status.
The mission statement of Americans For Waterboarding is as follows:
